Crazy theories are hard beliefs to prove, and they arise due to particular incidents. There are many beliefs among people that they talk about life after death where some are true and others are just stories thought to be happening. It is believed when one dies it is only the body that stops functioning but the soul leaves as a spirit roaming around and knows everything happening.
Scientists claim that in the past, it was said there is no life after death however after research, scientists believe there is life after death, and yet they do not have ways to prove the existence or absence of life after death. Researchers have come up with some theories and predictions to clarify the life after death. The theories are as follows: Cosmic theory, which fills our gaps in understanding, and it was proposed by Alex Starobinsky in 1979 and Alan Guth in 1980. It states that when one dies there is life in the next world.
There is a thesis statement on part of the brains to be replaced. The mechanism assumption elaborates more on how the body is the machine and functions according to similar principles of a machine. Currently, the theory is being put into perspective in sciences. It is realized in the proposition that the death of the body cannot affect the continuity of a person’s life. This theory strongly claims that even after death or destruction, the brain of a human being undergoes rebirth in another state and continue with life. Life is believed to be a continuous process and like in living beings it starts from birth through the lifespan of a person to death. After death, a person is believed to be reborn in another being, hence living another lifetime.
There are universes besides this earth that are large and it is believed when one dies, he meets with others who died there, according to the quantum model. In this proposition, there is no existence of death, it’s only a change of lifestyle from one universe to the other. This theory clearly clarifies that living things are originally immortal, so they live forever even after death there is life.
An additional crazy assumption about the existence of life after death is the Concordance model, which bases its argument on the existence of multiple parallel universes. By this, it states there are other limitless universes each having twins from the other. For instance, if there is a catastrophe on this earth, our duplicates on another universe would survive, but we will not make it. Fakhr al-Razi an Islamic theologian argued that, if God who is the most powerful and has control of all earth’s beings then he sure can create other limitless earth with similar beings to this.
The biological immortality proposition claims that the lifespan of human beings can be extended to more years like a thousand years or so. As years pass by, humanity has been increasing life expectancy in the way that time is being added to the lifespan (Ray Kurzweil). A Person who is aged 60, has existed for more than a century hence elongating life (Grey 2004). From the story of creation, in the book of Genesis, there is mention of the tree of life which is a source of immortality to the inhabitants of the Garden of Eden. Different cultures possess this similar story about avoiding aging and death to live longer. Medical science has not been left behind as scientists have worked hard to mutate genes of organisms and adjust their lifespan to more than half a decade. Changing the genetic composition may stop aging meaning that people will be able to live forever.
In open individualism’s hypothesis, it is declared that there is no requirement for you to be born regardless of the genetic composition, humans must be born, and enjoy life. It is found that people have lived and experienced the life of others as people easily remember detailed information about an event that occurred years ago of which someone else does not remember. Here it is explained that individuals are every creature that has ever existed, be it insects, birds, and trees. The aim of this model is to treat each other with respect. In the book of Leviticus 19:18, it is clearly stated that love your neighbor as you love yourself signifying that the experience of some beings is our experience also. Open individualism asserts that, as long as there is life where one lives, they cannot die this because any organism present anywhere, one exists there.
Another thesis on the afterlife is the simulation hypothesis, people are unable to differentiate between reality and dreams. This is seen in modern technology where you can connect to a virtual reality where events happening are not physical but rather seem like a dream. The gaming world has also experienced a big change in the graphics in years trying to modify games to be realistic. Moravec argues that individuals are simulated and their consciousness continues functioning on certain paths that are possible. In this theory, the memory of life is restored upon death and when they wake, they will be in a spiritual world with others.
Religion is always at the forefront of teaching on the afterlife and what it offers. For example, Roman Catholics hold onto the idea that heaven and hell are a state and not a place. When one dies, their souls first go to purgatory before advancing to the next stage of the afterlife. Here the living invokes the souls of the dead to resurrect and go to heaven hence the belief of life after death and the existence of a supreme God beyond human understanding.
Judgement day is mentioned in the book of Revelation when everything is to be revealed and God will pass his judgment. It is said that the dead will rise for judgment as well as those who are alive must be judged too. This idea of the dead rising assures Christians of life after death and eternal living.
Basing on these models, it is fair to say that life does continue after death as there is reincarnation, technology, parallel multiverses, and virtual reality which explain the possibility of immortality.
